Smell like IRON MAN?
Iron Man 2, the sequel to the 2008 Blockbuster Iron Man directed by Jon Favreau and starring Robert Downey Jr., is nearing it’s much anticipated release, only 2 months away. Iron Man 2 is a movie that sells itself, much like The Dark Knight did back in 2008, but still had an amazing (and personally the best) viral campaign for any film so far. Iron Man 2 follows the ending of Iron Man when Tony Stark reveals to the world that he is Iron Man and the consequences there-of. Tony Stark is a great character, so the question is, do you want to smell like him?
As I said above, Iron Man 2 is basically a movie that sells itself, being one of the most anticipated movies of 2010 and a great look into the Marvel Universe that was created at the end of Iron Man (Nick Fury cameo, after-credits); so there really doesn’t have to be a viral campaign to promote this film. Back in December, we were teased with various clues that eventually gave us the first and amazing teaser trailer. While it was an extremely small viral, many people hoped for something more from the people behind it, seeing how the story of Tony Stark and Iron Man would have been a great viral campaign. But sadly, after the release of the teaser trailer, the viral died. I didn’t mind it being as small as it was, it was just something fun to do while we waited for the trailer to pop up online, which is what the entire viral was about – the teaser trailer. Early this morning, an LATimes Blogger posted that “you can now smell like Tony Stark”, a cologne which is a direct tie-in with the Iron Man 2 movie will be released soon.

This isn’t as advanced as an ARG or anything, but it’s a really cool/unique way to promote the film and totally fits into the persona of Tony Stark, with Iron Man 2 opening May 7th, 2010 be sure to smell like a man’s man while watching T0ny Stark on the silver screen!
